MY BELOVED CONCUBINE

A Poem by: Fernando de Mello Pimentel

The chords from your guitar
echo back from nineteen sixty nine,
just like the light from twinkling stars
travelling through space and time.

They bring memories from very far,
along with words that when combined
produce the perfect rhyme.
Suddenly, I’m back to my prime.

To the days when all was fine.
You and I together in one heart,
just like ribbons intertwined.
The absolute state-of-the-art!

Oh, I wish we could re-start
rejoining your life with mine,
to never let you part
my beloved concubine.
